Job Description
Responsibilities:
* Lead and contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced laser systems for space applications.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to conduct research and analysis aimed at enhancing laser technologies.
* Drive innovation by proposing and implementing improvements to existing laser systems.
* Provide technical expertise in the field of laser engineering, optics, and physics to support project objectives.
* Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
* Stay abreast of industry developments and emerging technologies to inform decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
* A degree in Physics, Engineering or a related field with a focus on laser technology.
* Proven experience in the design and development of laser systems for scientific or industrial applications.
* Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using relevant software tools for simulation and modelling.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen interest in advancing laser technology within the context of space exploration.
Desired Skills and Experience
Ideal candidate:
* Experience in Class 4 laser would be highly desirable (HEL and HPL)
* Prior experience in end-to-end design and implementation would be highly regarded
* Intermediate level experience in similar role
* Canberra based or willing to relocate to Canberra (ACT)
* Australian Citizen with NV1 clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
