Role
The Director, Security Operations is accountable for the end-to-end lifecycle of GreenSquare's security operations - spanning design input, construction, commissioning, and live site operations.
This role ensures that security systems, processes, and controls are not only compliant with regulatory and customer requirements, but operationally effective, scalable, and fit for purpose from Day 1, and continuously refined to meet evolving risks and operational conditions.
In addition to physical security operations, the role owns the broader security operating model - including governance, assurance frameworks, security systems, guard force models, and supporting technologies - enabling a consistent, high-trust security environment across the portfolio.
This is a foundational, hands‐on role in the early phase, transitioning into a leadership position responsible for building a national Security Operations function as GreenSquare scales.
Security Operations - Team Purpose
The Security Operations function ensures that GreenSquare sites are secure, compliant, and trusted environments for customers, staff, and partners.
The team is responsible for physical security operations, security governance, incident response, and regulatory assurance - balancing strong controls with operational efficiency, technology‐enabled solutions, and a consistent, high‐performing security culture across all sites.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
* Establish, own, and continuously mature GreenSquare's security governance framework across all operational sites
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and assurance frameworks, including DISP, customer requirements, and relevant ISO standards
* Act as the accountable executive for security audits, certifications, regulatory reviews, and customer assurance activities
* Own physical security operations including access control, CCTV, monitoring platforms, alarm management, and guard force models
* Define and enforce consistent site security standards covering access, zoning, escorting, monitoring, and incident response
* Serve as the senior escalation point for security incidents, breaches, and customer-impacting events
* Lead or oversee security incident response, investigation, reporting, and corrective action
* Provide structured security input into design and construction, ensuring security‐by‐design, operability, and long-term maintainability of systems and processes
* Support commissioning and go‐live readiness, ensuring security systems, procedures, and guard force models are fully operational and aligned to site requirements
* Continuously review and optimise security operations, processes, and controls based on real-world site conditions, incidents, and emerging risks
* Define security service scopes, SLAs, KPIs, and governance models for third‐party security providers
* Lead vendor onboarding, performance management, and ongoing compliance oversight of guard force and security providers
* Own the performance and effectiveness of security systems and technologies, ensuring they are reliable, integrated, and fit for operational use
* Build trusted relationships with customers, regulators, and internal stakeholders through credible, consistent security assurance
* Drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and appropriate use of technology across security operations
* Develop the right team structure, capability, and culture as GreenSquare scales nationally.
* 10+ years' experience in data centre security or operations, preferably within critical infrastructure or regulated environments.
* Strong working knowledge of DISP and security governance frameworks.
* Proven experience leading audits, certifications, and regulatory engagements.
* Hands‐on understanding of physical security operations and incident response.
* Experience managing multi‐site security teams and vendor‐delivered services.
* Strong judgement, discretion, and calm decision‐making under pressure.
* Ability to operate both strategically and hands‐on in a scaling organisation.
Desired criteria
* Background in security, risk, defence, government, or critical infrastructure.
* Experience with ISO-aligned management systems (e.g. ISO 27001, ISO 22301).
* Familiarity with PSPF or government-aligned security environments.
* Experience supporting DISP-accredited or DISP-aligned facilities.
* Relevant security or risk management qualifications.
