Join Sugar Australia as a Quality Manager at our Racecourse refinery site in Mackay (QLD 4740). This is a full-time, permanent role where you'll lead the site Quality Team, drive food safety and quality culture, and ensure our products consistently meet customer, legislative, and certification requirements.
Reporting to the National Quality Manager, you'll play a key role in implementing our national strategic quality plan at site level, partnering closely with operations, EHS, and site leadership teams to build food safety and quality awareness, deliver quality products efficiently, strengthen customer relationships, and support new product development.

As the Quality Manager, you'll take ownership of quality systems, site certifications, and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver better quality outcomes with less waste. You'll coach and develop your team, drive a proactive quality mindset across operations, and act as the voice of the customer within our business.
What you'll be doing:
* Leading, coaching, and developing the site Quality Team, ensuring alignment to business goals
* Driving food safety and quality awareness across site operations through training and engagement
* Implementing and maintaining the site Quality Management Plan, HACCP, and associated certifications to ensure consistent food safety standards
* Developing and managing site quality documents, specifications, and nutritional data to ensure compliance with internal standards and industry regulations
* Managing internal and external audit programs, ensuring timely close-out of corrective actions and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
* Managing customer quality issues and complaints in a proactive manner, ensuring prompt feedback and capturing learnings
* Partnering with internal stakeholders to support customer requirements, manage quality issues, and provide technical information
* Leading site quality improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve processes, and enhance customer satisfaction
* Acting as the key liaison between internal and external customers to manage the quality relationship, ensuring satisfaction and continuous improvement
* Supporting new product development, packaging compliance, and supplier accreditation programs
* Preparing and presenting monthly quality reports and insights to the Leadership Team
What we're wanting you to bring to the table:
You are a hands-on, collaborative leader with a strong technical background in food quality and safety. You enjoy building capability in others, solving problems, and partnering with a variety of stakeholders to deliver results.
* Tertiary qualifications in Science, Food Technology or Microbiology
* Demonstrated experience in functional Quality roles (typically gained over around 5 years)
* Experience developing, implementing, and auditing quality and food safety management systems
* Previous experience in a supervisory/leadership role, leading and developing teams
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to represent the customer within the business
* High attention to detail, analytical capability, and results driven mindset
* Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and regulatory compliance relevant to food manufacturing
