About the Role
This Senior Lecturer position will form part of the Clinical or Professional Practice academic track, with responsibilities across teaching, clinical service, and research. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality clinical teaching in small animal surgery to undergraduate and postgraduate students, contribute to curriculum development, and support the ongoing development of clinical services within the veterinary hospital.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and deliver clinical instruction in small animal surgery through lectures, practicals, and hospital-based teaching.
2. Contribute to clinical services and provide expert care within a busy, well-equipped teaching hospital.
3. Supervise and mentor undergraduate, postgraduate, and specialist trainee students.
4. Develop and publish clinical research in collaboration with academic and hospital staff.
5. Play an active role in academic governance and broader university initiatives.
About You
We’re looking for a collaborative and inspiring educator with:
1. Board certification (or eligibility) in Small Animal Surgery (e.g. FANZCVS, DACVS, DECVS).
2. Extensive recent experience in small animal surgery, including orthopaedics and soft tissue.
3. Demonstrated excellence in clinical teaching, curriculum development, and assessment.
4. A strong interest in clinical research and mentorship.
5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Postgraduate qualifications in education or veterinary teaching.
7. Experience supervising specialist training programs.
