The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Firmware Team Leader will be responsible for leading a team of firmware engineers to complete the design of complex firmware in embedded environments on complex military systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a firmware engineering team to complete design of complex firmware in embedded environments on complex military systems.
* Apply agreed standards, guidelines, patterns and tools; assist in the design of components of larger systems.
* Create multiple design views to address the different stakeholders' concerns and to handle functional and non‑functional requirements; assist in the evaluation of options and trade‑offs.
* Design, develop and integrate high‑speed, RTL (SystemVerilog) designs into parallel FPGA processing environments.
* Verify RTL designs using Testbench and framework validation methodologies.
* Contribute to the development of organisational firmware design and architecture policies and standards.
* Review others' designs to ensure optimal design implementation and adherence to requirements and best practice.
* Mentor junior Firmware Engineers to develop talent and expertise within the organisation.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Electronics Engineering (or related discipline); individuals nearing completion of studies will also be considered.
* A logical approach to problem solving.
* An inquiring mind and a commitment to continued learning.
* Proficiency in a Hardware Description Language, preferably SystemVerilog.
* Understanding of synchronous logic design methodologies and practices.
* Knowledge of Altera and/or Xilinx FPGAs.
* Understanding of embedded logic engineering techniques, technology and interfacing with processors and software.
* Familiarity with source‑code control systems and their usage.
* Willingness and ability to understand and adopt new technology.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
