We are seeking an accomplished Mechanical Materials Handling Design Engineer to contribute their expertise in bulk material handling.
Responsibilities:
* Evaluate and refine detailed manufacturing design specifications for hydraulic equipment
* Analyse proposed designs for alignment with production goals, safety standards, and automation technologies
* Optimise equipment design through automation-driven improvements, reducing manual handling and enhancing operational efficiency
* Recommend design modifications to enhance reliability, maintainability, and performance
* Evaluate control systems, including PLCs, sensors, and actuators, to ensure compliance with industry standards
* Assess testing results to guarantee manufacturing throughputs and finished goods meet specifications
* Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure performance targets are met
* Document technical evaluations, design changes, and process improvements in line with quality and compliance requirements
Key Areas of Focus:
* Technical innovation, improvement, and automation opportunities in existing plant and equipment to maximise reliability and production efficiency
* Identification and acquisition of cost-effective plant and parts without compromising quality
* Project management of technology innovation projects for mechanical improvements
* Collaboration with the business systems team to identify technology-driven improvements and automation using AI or other available technologies
About You
* Must be a detail-oriented project design engineer with a strong background in bulk material handling
* Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
* Post graduate qualifications (Highly desirable)
* Demonstrated experience in manufacturing engineering or industrial automation, preferably in heavy machinery, hydraulics, or agricultural equipment
* Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, automation technologies, and production line integration
* Proficiency in industrial control systems
* Demonstrated ability to optimise mechanical designs through automation concepts and lean manufacturing principles
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Familiarity with Australian manufacturing and safety regulations highly desirable
* Hands-on experience in a production environment with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
* Excellent understanding and experience in software platforms
* Excellent relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and leading diverse teams
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities to facilitate project collaboration
