About The Role
As a Ward Clerk, you will provide consumer-focused administrative and clerical support to ensure a smooth patient journey and efficient ward operations. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, nursing staff and multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting patient flow and day-to-day coordination on Baxter Wing 5.
Key Responsibilities
Provide confidential, accurate clerical, reception and administrative support within the ward environment
Welcome patients and visitors, ensuring timely direction and smooth patient flow
Manage telephone enquiries professionally and deliver high-quality consumer-focused customer service
Coordinate appointments, admissions, discharges and medical record documentation using Barwon Health IT systems
Maintain accurate patient records, validate accounts and ensure compliance with organisational policies and legal standards
Support the multidisciplinary team through effective communication, flexibility and participation in workflow improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
Advanced computer skills in software applications including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn organisation specific specialist applications within the ward.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritise and organise work in a systematic, accurate and timely manner.
Ability to maintain a professional, confidential and courteous manner in an environment that can have competing demands.
