About the opportunity
This role is suited to a clinician who wants to make a real difference to the access to care and support for women in WNSWLHD exploring or exercising their right to self-determined care and pregnancy options.
The applicant will be required to have experience in assessment, provision and follow up for women requiring a medical termination of pregnancy.
As a complete wrap around service, you will work with the pregnancy options team to support and provide provision of abortion services.
This role reports to the Senior Manager Women’s Health & Violence Prevention. As part of a tight team who collaborates well together your colleagues may include a clinical nurse specialist, clinical midwife specialist, an Aboriginal health practitioner, pharmacy technician and administration support.
As the first LHD to implement this approach to care delivery you will need to be very well organised - keeping excellent records and high quality data.

You will be based in Dubbo or Orange, working within the Child Youth and Family Division as part of the Women’s Health & Violence Prevention portfolio. This role forms part of the Pregnancy Options Support Service and offers flexible work days.

To apply, please address the following Selection Criteria
1. Unconditional General and/or Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
2. Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and/or Vocational Recognition as a General Practitioner is desirable. If not currently a Fellow, being a trainee of a relevant College is an advantage.
3. Minimum of three (3) years post graduate clinical experience completed at the time of commencement (4 years preferable). Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage.
4. Sound knowledge of and commitment to clinical quality and patient safety, work health and safety, working within NSW Health Policy and current clinical practice guidelines. Knowledge of NSW Health electronic Medical Record/electronic Medications Systems (including Powerchart and FirstNet an advantage.
5. Knowledge and experience of contemporary clinical management in rural/remote settings. This includes modern approaches in assessment and management of a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions in both inpatient and emergency settings. Competence in performing the range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management.
6. Demonstrated commitment to behaviour which align to the NSW Health CORE values and WNSWLHD Values, goals and strategies.
7. Demonstrated experience in assessment, provision and follow up of medical termination of pregnancy.
