Position Summary

We're seeking experienced and motivated equine veterinary nurses and or technicians who want to be part of the team shaping a purpose-built, specialist level equine facility from day one.
Your responsibilities will include assisting in medical & surgical procedures, performing routine nursing duties, and offering critical support during emergencies. With exceptional time management skills, you will efficiently handle multiple tasks, ensuring that our hospital operations run smoothly and that each horse receives timely and effective care. As a compassionate caregiver, you will communicate with horse owners, providing clear instructions and support for at-home care. Your dedication to continuous learning and improvement will help build our centre's reputation for excellence and innovation in equine healthcare.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for a range of duties that include both core competencies and opportunities for professional growth, as outline below:
* Veterinary Nursing: Provide high-quality equine nursing care, including administering medications, monitoring patients within the hospital, surgical nursing, assisting with procedures, and monitoring patients' post-operative recovery. Possess a strong understanding of equine anatomy, physiology and common health issues.
* Horse Handling and Behaviour: Safely and confidently handle horses of varying temperaments, ages, and training levels in a range of clinical situations. Recognise and respond appropriately to signs of stress, discomfort, or behavioural changes to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and clients, while minimising stress for the horse.
* Client Communication: Educate and support clients by providing clear instructions on post-treatment care, medication administration, and follow-up appointments. Maintain a professional and empathetic approach in all interactions with clients.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, fellow veterinary nurses, and support staff to provide comprehensive care for equine patients. Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
* Time Management: Efficiently manage multiple tasks and prioritise responsibilities to ensure timely and effective patient care. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, treatment plans, and patient histories.
* Policy and procedure : Comply with established policy and procedures and contribute to continuous improvement activities to ensure the highest standards of patient care, safety and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience
* Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, Bachelor Veterinary Technology or equivalent
* Demonstrable experience in equine veterinary practice
* Demonstrable experience in equine industry
