The Opportunity
Shape the future of connectivity and digital innovation. We're building the backbone of a world-class education and research environment. Our network infrastructure is the foundation that enables teaching, research, and collaboration across multiple campuses—and we need a visionary Manager & Architect, Network to lead the way.
This is a strategic leadership role where you'll design and govern secure, scalable, and high-performing network solutions, while leading the development and enforcement of network standards, governance frameworks, and compliance protocols to ensure security and lifecycle resilience.
You'll mentor and develop a team of Senior and Specialist Network Engineers, fostering collaboration and adaptability through transformation and change. Working closely with Cybersecurity, IT Operations, and Digital Infrastructure teams, you'll integrate security, monitoring, and resilience into every aspect of network design and operations.
This role balances strategic innovation with operational reliability across a diverse, multi-campus environment, ensuring our network evolves with emerging technologies, cybersecurity demands, and institutional priorities You'll also play a critical role in shaping enterprise-wide architecture decisions, embedding resilience and security into every design, and ensuring our network supports continuity for critical teaching, research, and operational functions.
This is a full-time, ongoing position, based at our Hawkesbury campus (Parramatta South campus as required), with hybrid working arrangements available.

About You
You're a strategic thinker and a hands‑on leader who thrives on solving complex challenges and inspiring others. You combine deep technical expertise with the ability to influence decisions and drive change.
* Tertiary qualifications in IT, Network Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Extensive experience in enterprise network architecture, design, and governance within complex multi-campus organisations.
* Proven ability to lead senior technical teams through transition and change.
* Strong understanding of cybersecurity integration and regulatory compliance.
* Experience managing vendor‑led delivery models and performance frameworks.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
* Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, and service performance to deliver value and accountability.
Technical Expertise
* Enterprise network platforms and security solutions (HP, Palo Alto, Ruckus, Aruba, Cisco Meraki, ClearPass).
* Network monitoring and telemetry tools (SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Aruba AirWave, NetFlow, SNMP).
* Experience with SDN and its application in hybrid environments.
* Strong understanding of IPv4, IPv6, VLANs, QoS, and segmentation principles.
Desirable
CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent certifications; experience with AARNET or similar research networks.

Remuneration Package
HEW Level 9 $159,739 to $170,588 p.a. (comprising Salary of $134,981 to $144,149 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
