The Corporate Services Manager (CSM) is a new position in a recently established charity.

The CSM will play a crucial role in supporting the Chief Executive Officer in administering the charity's operations, with responsibility for finance, human resources, regulatory compliance (including OH&S), risk management, and coordinating office facilities (including IT).

The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. There are no direct reports to the CSM.

This is a unique opportunity to join a small, growing, mission-driven team, with the chance to work offsite, participate in events, and gain exposure to the projects the charity is involved in.

Employment Type: Full-time

Location: Office-based in North Sydney with some opportunity for flexibility.

About the charity:

Guided by His Majesty's vision of 'Harmony', The King's Foundation Australia works across three key pillars: People, Places and Planet. We transform lives through education and training, protect and regenerate Australia's built heritage, and build sustainable communities. The Foundation's first major project is the restoration and adaptive re-use of the property 'Hillview' in Sutton Forest, NSW.

Key responsibilities

* Financial management (including maintaining the general ledger, the expense management system, accounts payable function, coordinating the external audit, tax compliance, budgeting, cash management and producing tailored reports for the executive and board).
* HR (including working with outsourced payroll providers, advisors, lawyers and staff).
* Compliance, including OH&S, workers' compensation, insurance and ensuring adherence to ACNC and state-based fundraising regulations.
* Risk management, including administering the charity's contracts and legal documents (negotiated by the executive team), and ensuring that the charity's policies are implemented.
* Charity Operations, including supervision of the IT environment.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

* CPA or CAANZ designation or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Experience working in the not-for-profit sector is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of corporate governance, OHS principles and obligations, compliance and operational management principles and implementing internal controls.
* A sound general knowledge of HR/IR, and experience implementing SCHADS or a similar award-based environment is an advantage.
* Well-developed skills in budget preparation and monitoring, procurement, and contract administration.
* Solid general knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards as they apply to the not-for-profit sector.
* An understanding of the regulatory and tax environment for Australian charities and not-for-profit organisations is advantageous.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and small business accounting packages (e.g. Xero) is essential, and working knowledge of database management is desirable.
* General understanding of information systems and IT controls.
* Must be eligible to work and currently based in Australia.

* Strives for a high level of accuracy and precision at work, including experience in building and embedding checks and balances to identify errors, anomalies or inconsistencies.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate ideas and actions to all stakeholders inside and external to the charity.
* Possess a high degree of professionalism, integrity, discretion and respect for confidentiality.
* Demonstrates innovative and strategic thinking.
* Within a small team, a willingness to collaborate with the other charity staff to support day-to-day operations and project and event delivery as and when needed.

Additional Requirements

* Successful applicants must have the right to work in Australia and will be required to complete a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and police record check.
* There will be occasional out-of-hours work.
