Join our team as a WastewaterTreatmentOperator and help keep Tasmania's wastewater systems running safely, reliably and sustainably. In this role, you'll learn how to operate and monitor wastewater digital systems and treatment processes. You'll conduct sample testing and complete both preventative and responsive maintenance to ensure our assets perform at their best.

Responsible for wastewater treatment operations, the Operator is an experienced member of the team who ensures compliance with regulatory and service standards, while sharing knowledge, guiding newer staff, and contributing to a strong and positive team culture.

Your day will involve:

* Operate, monitor, maintain, and care for wastewater treatment infrastructure to meet regulatory and corporate standards, including sampling, treatment processes, and assessing the condition of treatment assets.
* Confidently use wastewater treatment technologies and tools, complete accurate operational records, and carry out site‐specific risk assessments to ensure safe and efficient daily operations.
* Support and guide team members through clear and respectful communication, providing hands‐on leadership and training within the wastewater treatment environment.
* Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of yourself, your team, the community, and contractors, while complying with all safety, environmental, and organisational policies.
* Bring relevant experience and/or qualifications in wastewater treatment operations, including trade experience or hands‐on work in outdoor or physically demanding environments.
* Demonstrate proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft applications, to manage records, data, and reporting requirements effectively.
* Provide positive leadership and practical training, supporting team capability development and collaborative working practices.
* Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and the community to support safe and compliant wastewater treatment operations.
* Maintain strong workplace health and safety awareness, holding a White Card and C Class Driver's Licence, and actively promoting safe work practices.
* Are physically and mentally adaptable, confidently managing lifting, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions associated with wastewater treatment work.

To be successful and safe in this position, you'll need to pass a pre‐employment medical assessment before you can start and you'll need to commit to participating in on‐call and planned overtime rosters, responding to emergency call‐out situations.

About the role

* This is a permanent (ongoing) full time position with options for a 9‐day rostered day off (RDO) fortnight. This role covers within Hobart's Eastern Shore.
* The role offers a total remuneration package ranging from $89,687.68 – $94,670.34 (including 15.5% superannuation). The package reflects an hourly rate starting at $38.84, with an increase to $41.00 following successful completion of probation.
* On call, call out and additional team‐specific allowances are available.
