Key Responsibilities
* Manage and resolve complex student concerns independently, ensuring outcomes that benefit students.
* Guide students in self-advocacy, striving to resolve issues informally before escalating to formal measures.
* Provide impartial support, ensuring access to appropriate non-academic services.
* Maintain detailed and confidential records, provide insights, and generate case summaries.
* Work collaboratively with university staff to address current and systemic student issues.
* Keep up to date with university policies, legislation, and external regulations.
* Ensure compliance with privacy policies and maintain high standards of discretion.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* A degree with relevant experience or extensive experience in a tertiary education environment, with expertise in advocacy or community organisations.
* Demonstrated skills in advocacy, negotiation, dispute, and conflict resolution.
* Proven ability to manage complex cases and resolve conflicts within a university setting.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive and confidential matters.
* Knowledge of university legislation, policies, and equity issues in tertiary education.
* High integrity, ethical standards, and a commitment to acting in the best interest of students.
