About the Opportunity
We have a current opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our JORN program. This role is ideally based in Melbourne, VIC.
As the Mechanical Engineer working as part of the Antenna IPT team, you will be responsible for designing the mechanical components and assemblies of HF antennas using CAD software. You will conduct feasibility studies, simulations and stress analyses to validate designs as well as perform complex calculations, data analysis and modelling of simulations. This role will support the manufacturing and production teams with technical guidance and troubleshooting and participate in all stages of production development.
- Design and development of antenna mechanical components and systems, ensuring functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform simulations using FEA (Finite Element Analysis), CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), and other modelling tools to predict performance, optimize designs, and identify potential failure modes.
- Provide engineering solutions on time and within budget across multiple projects, from concept through to production.
- Produce and maintain accurate engineering drawings, specifications, and reports in compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
About You
- Degree level qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and engineering in a professional setting
- Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor), engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, MATLAB)
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
