Director of Nursing (Facility Manager), Nurse Grade 10, Nursing Services, Childers Multipurpose Health Service - H2601WB673765. Childers Multipurpose Health Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing (Facility Manager) to lead and manage the delivery of high-quality nursing and residential care services within our multipurpose health facility. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care while overseeing clinical governance, workforce management, and operational performance.
Responsibilities
* The Director of Nursing (DON) is a senior clinical and operational leader accountable at an advanced practice level for the overall management and governance of nursing, operational, and administrative services within the facility.
* Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care across acute and aged care streams, while maintaining accountability for facility management, workforce performance, and regulatory compliance, including adherence to Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant accreditation frameworks.
* Provide strategic and operational leadership to nursing, administrative, and operational staff, ensuring effective utilisation of human, financial, and physical resources to support sustainable, efficient, and high-quality service delivery. Lead quality improvement, risk management, and clinical governance activities, using data, audit outcomes, and performance indicators to ensure the service is organised for safety, accreditation-ready, and responsive to community needs.

* Advanced and broad knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and standards across a range of nursing services.
* Demonstrated ongoing professional development of self and others; relevant post graduate leadership and management qualifications are highly desirable.
* Ability to provide effective advanced level leadership, management and organisational skills including comprehensive analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to negotiate, influence and gain support from appropriate people to reach patient care focused solutions and organisational outcomes.
* Ability to manage change and support all team members through the implementation of change initiatives.
* Expert and comprehensive knowledge of contemporary HR practices.
* Demonstrated expertise in human, financial and material resource management skills, including facility management.
* Expert political astuteness, integrity and ability to write professional documents such as briefs, business cases, procedures and executive reports.
* Extensive knowledge in the application of relevant legislation, National and State standards and direction, for the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service.
* Ability to lead clinical units in the development, implementation and evaluation of systems and processes which ensure quality evidence-informed nursing care.
Preferred Qualifications
* Mandatory possession of a nursing qualification from a registered tertiary institution or completion of an approved hospital training program and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
* Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
* Possession of context-specific postgraduate qualification in nursing is highly desirable.
* Aged Care: Potential applicants are advised that Section 63-1A of the Aged Care Act 1997 requires Queensland Health to: (a) Seek a criminal conviction record report from the Australian Federal Police; (b) Conduct a search of bankruptcy records; and (c) Conduct previous employment and referee checks. Your appointment to the position is subject to a favourable aged care service clearance. Queensland Health will meet the cost of this check.

On-call and regional requirements
* The Nurse Grade 10 (NRG10) is required to participate in an on-call roster to provide senior clinical and operational leadership support outside of standard business hours across the facility and other designated rural facilities within the district. This includes responding to emergent clinical issues, workforce and staffing escalations, patient flow and capacity pressures, and other operational matters. While on call, the NRG10 provides timely advice, decision-making, and direction, and may attend the facility when on call for the home facility to support patient safety, staff wellbeing, and service continuity. Participation in a district-wide on-call roster is an inherent requirement of the role.

Our offer: You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $192,005 p.a., comprising salary between $160,507 - $168,284 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 10) (Permanent Full Time, 76 hours p.f.)
