Genomic Diagnostics provides comprehensive genomic testing, spanning reproductive health, oncology inherited disease, and personalised medicine to an extensive network of public and private hospitals and community referrers across Australia.Our primary focus is to provide high quality and timely genomic information to assist in clinical decision-making and diagnosis of disease.We have an exciting opportunity available for a Team Leader who specialises within Molecular Haematology to join our team. Genomic Diagnostics undertake molecular testing in both classical and malignant haematology from haemoglobinopathies to leukaemia’s and lymphomas. We utilise a range of technologies including rapid IVD tests, RT-PCR, Sanger sequencing and massively parallel sequencing. The molecular team works closely with cytogenomics to deliver integrated patient focussed test results. As the Team Leader, you will oversee and guide a team of scientists, technicians, and pathology assistants in the molecular haematology stream consistent with Genomic Diagnostics workflow and Healius values.Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:Lead the team by example, promoting a positive team culture aligned with Healius values and maintaining a patient-focussed approach.Provide molecular haematology-specific expertise to the analytical and pre-analytical team.Support workforce development by identifying skill gaps, planning training and fostering professional growth among team members.Work with the Product Development Team to identify and implement new technologies in haematological diagnostic testing.Supervise and manage workflows of a rostered team to meet clinical requirements and turn-around-times.Take responsibility for all related laboratory testing procedures.Perform analysis, interpretation, writing and authorisation of molecular haematology results, ensuring adherence to NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements.Raise abnormal, urgent, or time-sensitive requests appropriately with the Chief Scientist, Clinical Director or Pathologist.Liaise with members from other departments including different haematology units and cytogenomics teams as required for the complexity of the tests.Report all incidents/non-conformances at the time of occurrence or if delayed as per Healius incident reporting guidelines (see intranet)About youTo be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:A Bachelor of Science or an equivalent qualification.Relevant post-graduate qualification such as a Membership of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (MHGSA), Fellowship of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (FGHSA) or Fellowship of the Faculty of Science, RCPA (FFSc).Minimum 5 years’ experience in a scientific role.Experience leading a team is desirable.An understanding of haematological disorders and how different technologies are used in routine diagnostic workflow is desirable.Familiarity with NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 guidelines, QC, QAP, internal auditing and troubleshooting is desirable.Knowledge of the Ultra computer system would be an advantage.Possess technical skills capable of and required to work in all facets of a multi-sectional laboratory as necessary..Benefits, Perks and WellbeingAs part of working for Healius, you will have access to a range of benefits & perks including:Benefits platform - Reduce the impact of the cost of living with everyday savings with 500+ of Australia's most-loved brands, (from the weekly grocery shop to premium perks like holidays).Fitness Passport – Access top fitness centres & pools across Australia at a subsidised rate.Corporate health insurance discounts, banking benefits and novated leasing salary packaging.Career growth and development opportunities with access to a comprehensive library of online courses and learning paths via our e-learning platform.Confidential health and well-being support through our Employee Assistance Program, available to all employees and their family members.Our Commitment to Diversity And InclusionHealius is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive workplace.
