Nestled in the quiet Benloch valley just 1 hour North of Melbourne, Weekaway aims to provide an experience not only for the time of your stay, but an experience for life.
Set on 72 acres of bush and open grassland, Weekaway is equipped with numerous multipurpose facilities.
We can accommodate groups of up to 200 people across three buildings, with a large Dining/Kitchen area adjacent to the main building. We offer duel occupancy but mostly our groups have sole occupancy.
Weekaway combines a range of indoor and outdoor activities, creating a unique program which encourages campers to push their limits while in a safe and enjoyable environment.
About the role
We are currently looking for an individual to take on the full time cook/catering role
As a cook, you would be leading the catering department for groups between 40 and 200 cooking in bulk quantities. The ideal candidate will excel in an environment with very little supervision, however the ability to work as part of a team is also very important. As many of our customers have special dietary requirements, the applicant will need to know the importance of, and have a thorough knowledge of all food allergies and other conditions. Your main responsibilities would include:
* Food preparation and planning
* Stock control
* Maintaining a clean, hygienic kitchen
* Customer service
* Food ordering
* Communication to clients (adults and children) and with other coworkers
* Management and training of other catering employees
* Public speaking - delivering meal & dining hall briefings to clients
Benefits and perks
The hours are stable, with Monday - Friday shifts mainly and very limited weekend work. Depending on client bookings, we roster either 4 or 5 day working weeks both resulting in 38 hours. Skills and experience
* Experience in stock take, food ordering and stock rotation
* Experience in a similar role with bulk cooking
* Great time management and task orientation skills
* Must enjoy working with children, communication with clients and talking to large groups
* Proven dedication to safe food handling and allergen requirements
* Friendly and approachable
* Excellent problem solving skills
* Communication and public speaking skills
* Own transport
Requirements
* Current Working With Children Check or willing to obtain
* Permanent workings rights in Australia
* Food handling supervisors certificates
