Role Overview

Our organization seeks an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental strategies across construction projects. This role plays a vital part in ensuring compliance with all legislative and client requirements, promoting a culture of safety, and working closely with project teams to mitigate risks and drive safe work practices.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in incident prevention, conducts audits and investigations, delivers training, and supports site teams in maintaining a safe and sustainable work environment. Key responsibilities include:

* Promoting and upholding a strong safety culture by adhering to and enforcing site safety procedures.
* Providing technical health and safety expertise and advice to the Project with particular emphasis on identification, assessment, and control of risks associated with project works and achieving compliance.
* Leading the investigation and reporting of incidents, near misses, and environmental breaches.
* Ensuring root cause analysis is completed and corrective/preventative actions are implemented and reviewed for effectiveness.
* Managing the Risk Assessment program including conducting HAZID, promoting the hazard card reporting system, ensuring required actions are recorded in the Master OHS Action Register and resolved, generating reports.
* Identifying, assessing, and managing risks across project phases; ensuring appropriate controls are implemented and monitored.
* Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations across jurisdictions.
* Developing a high performing team by providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
* Managing Incident Investigations in accordance with Project and Corporate Procedures including preparation of incident notifications and investigation reports.


Requirements:

We require an individual with:

* Minimum 10 years' + experience within Health and Safety in civil construction, ideally on infrastructure projects such as roads, pipelines, oil, gas, renewables, or utilities.
* Strong senior leadership experience; ability to lead and mentor HSE professionals.
* Tertiary qualifications; recognised bachelor's degree in Workplace Health & Safety or equivalent.
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or experience in the delivery of workplace training.
* Proven ability to lead HSE initiatives across multiple construction sites.
* Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of relevant Acts, Regulations, Australian Standards, and Codes of Practice.
* Demonstrated experience in managing the construction activities of medium to large complex infrastructure projects.
* Able to work on a fly-in/fly-out basis with an industry-standard work cycle on a FIFO on a 21:7 roster or DIDO local only 5.5 roster.
* Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite.
* Hold a Valid Australian driver's license and Construction Induction card.
