About SCEI-HE

Since 2018, Southern Cross Education Institute - Higher Education (SCEI-HE) has been delivering innovative, industry-aligned tertiary qualifications to both domestic and international students across Australia. We pride ourselves on producing highly capable, job-ready graduates in the education, health, and community services sectors.

With our main campus in Melbourne, a campus in Adelaide, and a new Gold Coast campus opening soon, SCEI-HE offers a modern, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where quality, compliance, and student success are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate, student-focused Learning Support Officer & Librarian to play a pivotal role in enhancing teaching, learning, and research outcomes at SCEI-HE.

This dynamic dual-role position blends professional librarianship with hands‐on academic learning support. You will help students develop essential academic literacy and numeracy skills while ensuring they have seamless access to high-quality physical and digital resources. You'll be instrumental in empowering students, especially pre‐service teachers, to meet rigorous academic standards and achieve their full potential.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves supporting student success, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to make a genuine difference in higher education.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and continuously develop high‐quality physical and digital library collections, databases, and subscriptions aligned with our curriculum and accreditation requirements
* Deliver personalized academic learning support in literacy, numeracy, academic writing, research skills, and referencing
* Design and deliver engaging workshops and create embedded learning resources within the Learning Management System (LMS)
* Provide specialist support to pre‐service teachers to meet literacy and numeracy competency standards (VIT requirements)
* Partner with academic staff to integrate library resources and learning support seamlessly into courses
* Oversee day‐to‐day library operations, including lending services, resource access, and copyright compliance
* Guide students in using academic databases, credible sources, citation tools, and academic integrity practices
* Support diverse student cohorts including international students with academic transition and success strategies
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to audits, course reviews, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Foster a warm, welcoming, and professional learning environment that encourages engagement and retention

About You

Essential Criteria

* Tertiary qualification in Education, Library and Information Services, Academic Support, or a closely related field
* AQF Level 7 (or higher) qualification meeting the Library and Information Sector: Core Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
* Eligible for membership with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
* Demonstrated experience in academic learning support and/or library services
* Proven ability to support academic literacy and numeracy development, ideally within teacher education
* Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
* Eligible to work in Australia

Desirable

* Knowledge of TEQSA and VIT regulatory standards
* Experience supporting blended/online learning environments and culturally diverse student cohorts
* Familiarity with digital literacy tools, e‐learning platforms, and library management systems

Additional Strengths

* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and e‐learning technologies
* Knowledge of library management systems, metadata, research tools, and information literacy principles
* Highly organized with excellent time management, independent working ability, and sound professional judgement

You will also maintain up‐to‐date industry and discipline knowledge and enjoy sharing it with both students and academic staff.

Why Join SCEI-HE?

* Be part of a genuine values‐driven, student‐centered organization
* Work in a collaborative, supportive, and friendly team environment
* Make a meaningful, visible impact on student success, progression, and retention
* Opportunity to contribute to the growth of a dynamic and expanding higher education provider
* Professional development opportunities in a forward‐thinking academic setting

If you are passionate about student success, love supporting learners from diverse backgrounds, and want to combine your library expertise with meaningful academic support work, we would love to hear from you.
