This is a Assistant Financial Control Accountant role with Suncorp Group based in Sydney, NSW, AU Suncorp Group Role Seniority - mid level More about the Assistant Financial Control Accountant role at Suncorp Group Join our Finance & Advice team as an Assistant Financial Control Accountant in Sydney. We’re hiring for one permanent full-time role and one full-time contract role until June 2026. Be part of a team that ensures strong financial processes and controls across the business. In this role, you’ll support month-end close procedures, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, and continuous process improvement initiatives. What You’ll Do Prepare monthly journals and identify opportunities for process standardisation and improvement. Oversee reconciliations and journals, ensuring accuracy and timely completion according to guidelines. Escalate high-risk issues promptly to senior team members. Support statutory, regulatory, and management reporting requirements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet month-end deliverables. Review Reconciliation Control reports and work with stakeholders to resolve issues. Assist with audit activities and liaise with external and internal auditors as required. Support payment authorisations in line with the Delegated Authority Policy. Drive innovation, process simplification, and automation initiatives. Promote knowledge sharing and contribute to a supportive, high-performing team environment. What You’ll Bring Recognised degree in Accounting (desired). CA or CPA accreditation (or working towards) preferred. 2 years’ accounting experience, ideally with General Ledger, regulatory, and financial reporting in large, computerised systems. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and numeracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) and Word. Experience with Oracle or similar general ledger systems preferred. Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, maintain confidentiality, and meet critical deadlines. Self-motivated with a collaborative approach and a keen interest in learning and sharing knowledge.
