Salary: AUD140 - AUD150 per hour
Our valued federal government client is looking for a skilled
Data Scientist
to join their team for an exciting contract opportunity. This 6-month contract offers the potential for a 24-month extension and provides an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in machine learning, data science, and statistical techniques to solve complex business challenges and contribute to government-led initiatives.
Open to ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, or VIC

Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive data analysis using descriptive and inferential statistics, data visualization, and hypothesis testing to uncover insights and trends that inform decision-making.
Develop, implement, and fine-tune machine learning and deep learning models, such as
regression ,
classification ,
clustering, and
natural language processing (NLP), to solve complex business problems.
Continuously evaluate and optimize model performance using appropriate metrics and techniques, including
cross-validation ,
grid search, and
A/B testing, to ensure models meet business requirements.
Deploy, maintain, and monitor
data pipelines
and
machine learning models
in production environments to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Present complex data analysis and machine learning results to both
technical and non-technical audiences
using clear and concise
reports ,
dashboards, or
slides
to facilitate informed decision-making.
Work closely with data engineers to facilitate the curation, integration, and management of data that supports analysis and machine learning projects.
Key Skills:
Strong experience applying statistical and machine learning techniques.
Proficiency in Python or R, with experience using libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Spark.
Expertise in using SQL, Power BI, or Python to explore and analyze business data.
Familiarity with tools such as
Databricks ,
Azure Data Lake, or
Azure SQL Server .
Familiarity with Australia’s biosecurity systems.
