About Award Mortgage
At Award Mortgage, we pride ourselves on offering tailored lending solutions that meet the unique needs of every client. With a strong footprint across Australia, our team is known for delivering expert guidance, particularly to self-employed clients navigating complex financial scenarios. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Credit Manager to play a vital role in strengthening our credit operations and supporting team development.
Role Overview
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in credit assessment and has a genuine interest in supporting the development of others. You'll not only be responsible for assessing loan applications and structuring lending solutions but also for helping junior team members upskill by contributing to training resources and offering guidance when needed.
Responsibilities
* Review and assess mortgage applications by thoroughly analyzing financial documents such as tax returns, profit & loss statements, and other income verification materials.
* Evaluate each client's unique financial situation to recommend suitable lenders and lending structures that align with their individual needs.
* Engage directly with clients to understand their long-term financial goals, providing tailored mortgage strategies to support those objectives.
* Liaise with a range of lending partners to negotiate favorable loan terms, secure competitive interest rates, and ensure optimal client outcomes.
* Deliver end-to-end support throughout the loan lifecycle, including document collection, timeline communication, and guiding clients through the approval process.
* Stay up to date with lender policies, compliance regulations, and industry standards to ensure advice is accurate, compliant, and of high quality.
* Monitor market trends, economic shifts, and developments that may impact lending criteria—particularly for self-employed or complex borrower profiles.
* Lead and mentor a team of junior Credit Analysts, offering support and oversight on complex loan files to ensure high-quality credit decisions.
* Develop comprehensive training resources for onboarding new Credit Analysts and facilitating their progression into the role.
* Act as a subject matter expert within the credit team, providing solutions and strategic input on escalated or non-standard lending scenarios.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying workflow efficiencies, credit policy enhancements, and team development opportunities.
What We\'re Looking For
* Background in mortgage credit, small business banking, or home lending, with hands-on experience supporting self-employed clients.
* Strong working knowledge of credit policy, loan structuring, and lending principles.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly to clients and team members.
* A detail-focused approach with solid analytical capabilities.
