Position Overview
Under the broad direction of the General Counsel, and working closely with a Deputy General Counsel and other staff in the University Legal Office, provide significant legal advice and carry out tasks of a legal nature.
The scope of the legal work undertaken by the University Legal Office includes research and commercial contracts, information technology agreements and advice, public law advice, litigation, dispute resolution, and compliance matters within theUniversity framework and higher education sector. Lawyers are regularly exposed to complex transactions, both withinAustraliaand internationally
Your duties will include the provision of legal advice to the University across a broad range of matters, including on legal implications of policy proposals. You may assist with managerial roles within the University Legal Office. You will create and deliver legal education programs and similar activities. You will participate in higher education legal professional fora, develop networks and liaise with colleagues across the sector.
You will possess significant legal practice skills relevant to the operations of the University. Candidates with experience, or keen interest, in the higher education sector are encouraged to apply.
