About the role
The role of General Manager, Transport is a new and exciting role within Bunnings Supply Chain team. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the General Manager, Transport will be a critical member of the Bunnings Leadership Group and a Senior Member of the Bunnings Supply Chain and Logistics team.
Key components of the role will include
- Maintaining and leading the team to deliver a high level of compliance with all transport regulations across Australia and New Zealand
- Ensuring the safety of transport operations working through Bunnings 3PL partners
- Developing a Bunnings managed primary freight transport operation (B-Link) that effectively manages the end‐to‐end freight movement from suppliers, through the Supply Chain network
- Developing and implementing a Transport strategy that optimises safety, service and cost across all DC and supplier to store deliveries together with last mile transport
- Managing contracts and commercial relationships over a broad spectrum of 3PLs
- Developing Transport Management KPIs to support the achievement of the Transport business objectives
- Leading a Transport Operations team that manages over 1million transport movements per annum, safely and effectively
- Full cost‐centre accountability for the secondary and last‐mile freight costs
Qualifications
- Demonstrated 10 years senior experience in managing key 3PL suppliers, particularly those related to Transportation and / or Supply Chain
- Minimum 5 years in a Senior Leadership role within a large Retail or FMCG Operation
- Tertiary equivalent education, ideally in business or Supply Chain disciplines
- Strong initiative and problem‐solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships, influence colleagues and help build capability across the team
- Robust influencing skills and the demonstrated ability to influence internally and externally to achieve effective outcomes
- Proven track record of driving competitive supply chain solutions
