Thinking about taking time out to pursue a PhD but concerned about the financial commitment? If so, you may wish to consider the Ken Clements PhD Scholarship for studies commencing in 2027.
The Ken Clements PhD Scholarship, generously donated by Diane Smith-Gander AO, aims to support more women to undertake PhD studies in economics at the University of Western Australia (UWA). Applicants must identify as female and be Australian citizens or hold permanent residency to be eligible.
This scholarship is offered as a top-up to be held in conjunction with a Research Training Program (RTP) primary scholarship. In 2027, the combined RTP stipend plus the Ken Clements top-up is expected to total approximately $65,000 per annum. Both scholarships are tax-free.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open and strongly encouraged. While the formal application portal is not yet open, prospective applicants are encouraged to submit an EOI and make early contact to discuss potential research topics and supervision.
The closing date for formal applications (once open) will be 31 October 2026.
