* Ongoing full-time role, 35 hours per week (Part time-negotiable)
* Officer based in Parramatta with flexible working (other NSW locations are negotiable)
* Salary depending on experience, ranges from $138,539 to $148,283 + superannuation& leave loading

About the role

As a Senior Legal Officer, you will be based in the Commercial, Government, Property and Native Title team, focused in our government workstream.

The Government workstream supports the corporate governance and regulatory compliance functions of DCCEEW. We provide advice to DCCEEW and DCCEEW agencies and work closely with senior executive teams. We also assist the Governance team in relation to their privacy, government information, audit and ethics functions.

You will work on matters such as:

* Advice on core government legislation such as the Government Sector Finance Act, Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act, Government Information (Public Access) Act and Government Sector Employment Act;
* Legal support to the Governance team in relation to requests for information from regulatory and parliamentary bodies, investigations and inquiries, and public applications and complaints;
* Drafting financial and banking delegations for DCCEEW and DCCEEW network agencies;
* Reviewing and advising on draft legislation and whole of government policies;
* Briefing the Crown Solicitors Office;
* Liaising with other legal and policy teams in DCCEEW and across government; and
* Preparing fact sheets and other resources to support internal clients.

You will also have opportunities to gain experience in other workstreams in our Team. You may assist on commercial matters such as grant funding, sponsorship, procurement, intellectual property and research collaboration agreements, and on property matters such as leases in national parks.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be a highly motivated and experienced legal professional with expertise in government sector compliance and corporate governance.

You will demonstrate a collaborative approach, responsiveness to client timeframes, attention to detail, and well-developed advice writing, research and analytical skills.

1. Admitted or qualified for admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in the Supreme Court of NSW and hold, or be eligible to hold, a NSW Practising Certificate
2. A minimum of 3 years post-admission experience
3. Experience in one or more of the following areas:
* statutory interpretation

* government sector compliance and reporting

* delegations

* public interest disclosure, privacy and government information (GIPA)

* other regulatory compliance.
