Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior or Lead Engineering Project Manager to oversee complex engineering projects from planning through to delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project portfolios, leading multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and driving outcomes that align with organisational goals. Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Delivery
* Develop comprehensive project plans and manage project portfolios.
* Deliver projects on time, within budget, and in line with defined milestones.
* Oversee cost control, invoicing, resource allocation, and schedule tracking.
* Ensure projects align with scope, strategy, and stakeholder expectations.
Team Leadership and Coordination
* Lead, mentor, and motivate project teams to foster collaboration and high performance.
* Facilitate regular meetings, provide feedback, and ensure alignment with goals.
* Support staff development and promote a strong culture of communication.
Strategic Input
* Contribute to management decision-making on strategic planning and resourcing.
* Support continuous improvement in project processes, governance, and reporting.
Compliance and Quality
* Ensure all projects adhere to safety, regulatory, and quality assurance requirements.
Skills and Experience
* Extensive engineering project management experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, fabrication, production operations, or process engineering.
* Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. MS Project).
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
* Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects at various stages simultaneously.
* More than 15 years of relevant experience in project engineering or management within mechanical, chemical, process, combustion, or pyrolysis engineering (or a related field).
Highly desirable experience:
* Gasification, combustion, or process engineering.
* Project cost management and financial control.
* Cross-team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
* Supplier and customer relationship management.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Combustion/Pyrolysis Engineering (or related discipline).
* Postgraduate qualifications in Project Management, Engineering Management, or MBA are advantageous.
