Ballarat Hospital
The Pharmacist will provide a ward-based clinical pharmacy service, including drug chart review and one-on-one patient counselling at the bedside. The pharmacist will be a valuable member of the therapeutic team.
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract until August 2026, working 76 hours per fortnight.
The Position
* Dispensing medications and educating patients on their use.
* Providing ward pharmacy services, including review of drug therapy charts, patient medication education, and liaison with medical and paramedical staff.
* Preparing aseptic items in accordance with the guidelines set by the Code of Manufacturing Practice, SHPA Practice Standards, and Hospital Policies.
* Assisting in the pharmacy with dispensing and covering duties of other pharmacists as required.
* Supervising imprest stock distribution and bulk manufacturing of prepacking by Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
* Providing continuing education lectures for staff development within the hospital.
* Contributing to quality activities with a focus on best practice.
* Participating in evaluating the quality of patient care delivered.
* Supporting data collection for hospital-wide Quality Activity projects and Clinical Indicators.
You will be registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA). You should have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to others professionally and sensitively.
Success in this role requires the ability to work well in a team, with excellent time management and organizational skills. You should demonstrate senior clinical skills within the scope of a Pharmacist.
