These include acute burns treatment, post-operative care, and reconstructive surgery. The unit serves as the statewide referral centre for adult burns in Victoria, and you will play a critical role in ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality care across all service points.The position involves oversight of a multidisciplinary team, including senior and junior medical staff, and requires active involvement in recruitment, clinical governance, and the strategic development of models of care. A key focus will be the ongoing integration of research, education, and innovation into the Burns Unit’s clinical operations, ensuring alignment with Alfred Health’s strategic priorities.This role is equally balanced between clinical responsibilities and leadership/administrative functions, enabling meaningful impact across service delivery, operational efficiency, and quality outcomes.Key Responsibilities• Provide clinical and managerial leadership, promoting a high-performance culture within the unit. Oversee recruitment, retention, and development of medical staff.• Lead clinical governance and ensure best practices in burns surgery. Oversee quality improvement programs, audits, and incident reviews.• Develop and implement strategic and operational plans aligned with Alfred Health’s broader goals.• Promote research and education, encouraging clinical inquiry, innovation, and professional development.• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, national guidelines, and accreditation requirements.About YouWe are seeking an experienced and visionary leader in Burns Surgery, with a strong background in managing complex surgical teams and delivering high-quality patient care. You will hold medical qualifications and be registered (or eligible for registration) with AHPRA, along with Fellowship of the relevant surgical college. You will have significant clinical experience in burns and reconstructive surgery, and a passion for service innovation, research, and education.Strong clinical governance expertise, operational acumen, and an inclusive leadership style will be critical to your success in this role.
