Our Support Services team provides a range of essential non-clinical services that help our hospitals run. We provide food services, central production kitchen, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services. The General Services Department at Monash Medical Centre Clayton is seeking a qualified Patient Services Assistant who strives consistently to deliver high quality and efficient cleaning services.
Positions Available
Ward 31 North:
Position 1 – AM Shift
Thursday and Friday –
Saturday –
(48 hours per fortnight)
Position 2 – PM Shift
Monday to Friday –
(76 hour per fortnight)
Ward 51 South:
Position 3 - AM Shift
Saturday - Wednesday –
(76 hours per fortnight)

A Day in the Life
Based at Clayton, you will be working in the Jessie McPherson private wards. The main focus of your role will be for the effective provision of support for the Nursing Team in the delivery of patient. The position incorporates cleaning of patient areas, ward duties, assisting with patient meals as required, patient transfer between wards and other clinical areas. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Patient discharge assistance
2. Daily and discharge cleaning
3. Patient transport and at times assisting with bariatric patients
4. Assisting nursing staff as requested
5. Transfer and cleaning of ward equipment
6. Patient transfers with use of equipment, bed movers and wheelchairs
7. Dropping off and collection patient related items to various services within the hospital such as pathology, blood bank etc.
About You:
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
9. A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
10. Holds a strong commitment to working effectively as part of a team
11. Takes pride in your work and attention to detail
12. Has great time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
What you need:
13. Certificate III Health Services Assistant (Essential)
14. Food Handlers Certificate – Level 1
15. Ability to work with a cohesive team or individually to complete daily tasks
16. Excellent understanding of patient identification procedures.
17. Ability to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling
18. Excellent understanding of cleaning methodologies and infection control procedures
19. A high standard of demonstrated experience in customer service from a health care or hospitality environment (Desirable)
20. Basic to intermediate computer skills
