Aboriginal Caseworker - Murrumbidgee Region

What you’ll do
1. Work sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children, or young people.
2. Collaborate with other agencies and engage in complex problem solving.
3. Assist families in setting goals that meet their needs, address safety and wellbeing concerns, and provide assistance through home visits.
4. Develop safety plans and complete risk assessments.
5. Manage cases involving high needs and high-risk clients and families.
6. Participate in court processes, including preparing documents and attending court.
7. Engage in individual and group supervision.
8. Make tough decisions with families to help them overcome hardships and develop safe, loving homes.
What we’re looking for
To be a Child Protection Caseworker, you should be confident, curious, and resilient. The essential requirements include:
* A relevant diploma or degree qualification (preferred).
* Alternatively, at least two years of experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families.
* Ability to build positive relationships, supported by excellent communication skills.
* A valid driver’s license.
* A paid working with children clearance number.
* Verified Aboriginality, confirming you are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent who identifies as Aboriginal.
This is an identified role open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, as a genuine occupational qualification under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Applicants must upload one of the following to be considered:
* Confirmation of Aboriginality form, or
* Written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organizations within your community addressing the criteria of descent, self-identification, and community acceptance.
