Lead Complex Plant Asset Strategy

As our Asset Management Specialist, you will join our Assets Team at Vales Point Power Station and take ownership of critical plant systems, providing specialist technical leadership to ensure safe, reliable and commercially sustainable operational performance.
Vales Point Power Station is a major coal fired generator within the NSW energy market operating complex, large-scale systems that demand deep technical expertise. This role is required to drive long-term plant reliability, performance and asset life extension within a high-performing operational environment.
What You'll Do:
* Own Critical Plant: Take end-to-end responsibility for complex plant systems within your specialist area ensuring process safety, reliability and cost-effective performance aligned to business needs.
* Asset Management : Develop and implement short and long-term asset strategies focused on reliability, life extension, efficiency and risk management. Provide expert technical advice to maintenance, operations and site leadership teams.
* Project Management: Provide leadership of major planned outages and capital projects within your plant area. Oversee contractors and service providers, ensuring works are scoped effectively, risks are managed and delivery outcomes meet safety, quality, schedule and budget expectations.
* Optimise Plant Availability : Lead investigations into plant issues, applying highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver sustainable corrective and preventative solutions.
* Deliver Commercial Outcomes: Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for your plant area, balancing performance, risk and cost while ensuring strong commercial discipline.
* Strengthen Asset Capability: Mentor and support developing asset engineers and site personnel, building technical capability and sharing critical plant knowledge across the team.
* Provide Technical & Functional Leadership: Lead and coordinate Asset Management Engineers, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver asset strategies and outage outcomes, and act in the Asset Manager's capacity when required.
* Ensure Safety, Environmental and Statutory Compliance: Champion a strong HSE culture and ensure plant strategies align with statutory, corporate and environmental requirements.
What You'll Bring:
You will hold tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) or a related discipline with proven site based experience in asset management, reliability engineering, maintenance strategy or plant performance within power generation or heavy industry.
Experience in one or more of the following plant areas will be highly regarded:
* Boiler, fuel and combustion systems
* External plant and infrastructure, including fabric filters, facilities or site services
You will also demonstrate:
* Strong analytical capability and a structured approach to problem solving utilising team collaboration and process analysis applications
* Sound commercial acumen, including budget and contract management experience delivering project safely, on time and on budget
* The ability to interpret and apply statutory, safety and environmental requirements
* Confidence influencing stakeholders across maintenance, operations and leadership teams
* A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a strong commitment to safety and long term plant reliability and availability
* Long term experience within a coal-fired power station or large-scale industrial environment will be highly regarded.
