Job Description

Location: Ceduna, South Australia.

Status: Part Time (0.6 FTE) working 22.8 hours per week (hours negotiable, option for school hours work considered)

Annual Salary: from $52,854 to $56,873 per annum + superannuation based on part time hours

About the Position

The Community Development Officer supports communities through various engagement and development activities, including community events, community meetings and networks and supporting community, organisations and stakeholders to engage with CCCSA initiatives and programs.

As a Community Development Officer, your responsibilities will include:

* Lead, facilitate and support the planning of community events and engagement activities.
* Assist in the development of culturally appropriate, innovative, and effective approaches to delivering services to families and individuals.
* Provide clinical cultural consultation as appropriate in line with specific program needs.
* Support the community which includes individuals and families to strengthen community functioning as appropriate.
* Advise and assist in the development of educative group/community work initiatives that are responsive to the current and changing needs for each local community and deliver community education as required.
* Promote CCCSA's programs throughout the region.
* Incorporate community participation, community development theory and client centered practice.
* Attend and actively participate in community meetings and networks as required.
* Participate in a range of meetings with stakeholders and service providers to develop strong networks within the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities across the region.
* Support the Reconciliation Action Working Group (RAWG) activities to promote a culturally safe environment.
* Provide coaching and mentoring support to students and staff members as required.
* Undertake data and reporting as required.

This is a part time opportunity, hours negotiable, option for school hours work considered.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

* Experience and connections in the human service sector across the region.
* Experience in developing and facilitating groups, presentations and workshops.
* Sound knowledge of Centacare CCSA regional communities, programs and stakeholders.
* Sound knowledge of issues and challenges experienced by regional, rural and remote communities.
* Demonstrated ability to work with and be sensitive/responsive to the differing needs of people from various cultural groups.
* Demonstrated high level of ability to negotiate and communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
* Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a highly confidential manner.
* Demonstrated high level of ability in the use of Microsoft Office and Information Technology.
* An appropriate qualification in the human service sector (desirable).

Requirements of the role:

* Hold (or willingness to obtain) a current DHS Working With Children Check *
* Hold (or a willingness to obtain) a National Criminal History Record Check (Police Check) *
* Hold a current South Australian Driver's Licence (minimum Provisional License)
