What to Expect
The Area Utility Manager is a key technical member of the Tesla Energy Infrastructure Service team that focuses on and leads the delivery of service obligations on large-scale energy storage systems. We are seeking an experienced service, project or asset manager with excellent oral and written communication skills to interface with clients. You will work closely with the Operations and Maintenance Manager for Utility, Deployment, Engineering, Sales and Logistics to execute contractual requirements and ensure peak operational performance of critical infrastructure projects. As an Area Utility Manager, you will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy on your projects while contributing to the development of tools and processes that improve the organization’s productivity.
What You’ll Do
Manages service of Tesla Energy utility storage assets according to contract and customer objectives.
Delivery of preventative and reactive maintenance in line with service obligations and product warranty, including schedules.
Manages team of technicians and electricians across the assigned region and accountable operational KPI's
Provides field team training of equipment operation and service procedures.
Hiring and HR administration of regional team of technicians and electricians.
EHS enforcement and accountability for work performed in the field.
Onsite troubleshooting and investigation of equipment failures.
Onboarding and set up of sub-contractors, site service facilities and development of site-specific service requirements in parallel with project deployment.
Meets with clients and asset management team to assess asset status, needs, risks, goals and maintenance progress.
Reports on operational maintenance plans, testing, audits, performance and forecasts.
Collaborates with asset management team to ensure operations will meet all obligations/ performance guarantees and company standards.
Periodic online monitoring, recording, identifying and handling incidents that impact asset performance.
Keep records included but not limited with call outs, spare parts and in general all day to day activities.
Manages external parties like public authorities, grid operator, and others.
Manages subcontractors’ relationships and contacts for sites in region.
Manage and review plant service, budget and reporting, monthly.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of cross-functional service, project or asset management experience required
Degree in engineering, or equivalent trade qualification and experience
Experience in large scale power production, or equivalent
Background in medium and high voltage environments
Regular site visits to energy locations within designated region (1-2 weeks per month; 25%-50% travel)
Ability to deal with ambiguity, define and drive strategy, and attention to details. Demonstrated success in complex problem solving
Strong customer relationships and communication.
Passionate and empathetic about working with other teams and partners to solve challenges
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to use data and metrics for making assumptions and decisions
Ability to execute on many projects and tasks in parallel, across teams, in a short timeframe, with ability to pivot rapidly
Excellent written and communication skills and oral fluency in English
