Mercy College is seeking a compassionate, skilled K-12 Counsellor / Social Worker to join our College wellbeing team.
The K-12 Counsellor / Social Worker is a crucial role in supporting the mental health, wellbeing and education engagement of students at Mercy College.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the support, guidance and progress of all the College's pastoral care and wellbeing programs.
As such, the position involves an important staff mentoring and supervisory role.
Key Responsibilities
Provide counselling to students for academic, social, behavioural, and personal concerns.
Promote mental health and wellbeing through group programs, workshops, and preventative initiatives.
Work collaboratively with Heads of Year, Deputy Principals, teachers, and parents to support student development and coordinate wellbeing plans.
Support restorative practices and contribute to behaviour management strategies.
Liaise with external agencies to ensure continuity of care for students.
Lead wellbeing-related staff professional learning and parent engagement sessions.
Assist with policy development, risk identification, and communication processes that support student welfare.
The ideal candidate will be an empathetic professional with strong communication skills, a commitment to ethical practice, and the ability to work collaboratively to build a positive school culture.
