The school offers classes from Kindy to Year 6 for an enrolment of approximately 80 children. Our school and its staff are committed to our core purpose of ensuring that every day, all students receive a high-quality education that focusses on development of Literacy and Numeracy skills. Teaching strategies are informed by research and continually reviewed to ensure that they are meeting the needs of all students. Living in Pormpuraaw
Pormpuraaw has a population of approximately 700; 650 of whom are indigenous Australians. Multiple services are available in Pormpuraaw, including a health clinic, day care, retail supermarket, guest house, and various sports facilities. Pormpuraaw is an alcohol managed community. Living and working in the remote community of Pormpuraaw, you will have access to the benefits the Department offers for temporary teachers and staff employed in rural and remote locations. These benefits include travel, location allowances and subsidised departmental housing.
Your opportunity
As the Head of Department (Curriculum) you will:
Lead a curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
Participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
Develop the quality of teaching and learning
Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.
The Head of Department (Curriculum) is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate and is a pivotal member of the leadership team.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
Lead and promote a shared educational vision within the school department that prioritises high-quality learning outcomes for all students.
Foster an inclusive and equitable environment by embedding socially just practices and setting high expectations for both student achievement and staff performance.
Build strong partnerships with students, parents, community groups and government agencies to support learning and wellbeing.
Lead strategically and professionally by remaining future-focused and engaging in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
Manage departmental responsibilities effectively by understanding relevant legislation and policies and coordinating human, financial, facility and curriculum resources to achieve goals.
