Chief executive officer

Circular PV Alliance
CEO
Posted: 21 March
Offer description

Engagement: Part Time, Contract (with scope to scale)

Location: Australia-wide / flexible / remote

Reports to: Board of Directors

The Opportunity

Australia is entering a once-in-a-generation transition as the first wave of large-scale and rooftop solar systems reaches end of life. Circularity in solar is moving rapidly from a future issue to a commercial, regulatory and reputational imperative. Stewardship for solar PV has emerged as a government priority, with specific recommendations from the Productivity Commission backed by multi-million dollar investment from the federal government. Circular PV Alliance (CPVA) is already at the centre of this shift. CPVA has:

* Established national and international credibility in solar circularity, with multiple publications, journal articles, industry collaborations and industry representation in Australia and abroad,
* Developed the world's first circularity assurance framework, CPVA Certified, and already diverted over a million solar panels from landfill and into the circular economy,
* Built strong relationships across industry, government, universities and local councils to influence circularity and stewardship outcomes, and
* Positioned itself as the trusted authority in circular solar best practice.

CPVA now seeks to appoint its next Chief Executive Officer, as the incumbent resumes strategic Board responsibilities after fulfilling the CEO duties during CPVA's foundational chapter. The new CEO will lead the organisation into its next phase: converting a strong foundation into delivering value to industry, ensuring commercial durability and long‐term organisational sustainability.

This is a unique opportunity to lead and grow Australia's only industry body solely dedicated to the solar energy circular economy and resource recovery sector, at the exact moment the market is tipping. If you are a purpose‐driven professional and want to be part of defining how the solar industry moves from linear to circular at the intersection of energy and resource recovery, then this is your role.

What You Will Be Doing

The CEO is responsible for leading CPVA through its scale phase — evolving the organisation from a founder‐led alliance into a commercially sustainable, nationally recognised certification, membership and advocacy body. This is a genuine second‐stage CEO appointment. The role is a hands‐on, externally focused leadership role, suited to someone who combines industry credibility, commercial acumen and growth energy, with a preference to 'lean in' and proactively build momentum. This is a real opportunity for creative leadership and the chance to grow into the CEO role.

The CEO will work closely with the Board and Co‐Founders to:

* Act as the public face of CPVA with industry, government, communities and key stakeholders and maintain CPVA's positive reputation,
* Expand CPVA's influence and reach, building on existing partnerships and initiating new collaborations,
* Drive certification uptake, leading growth of CPVA Certified, from first engagement through to signed certification agreements,
* Manage CPVA's member base including keeping in regular contact with and understanding members' needs,
* Grow CPVA's membership base by tapping into your network, creating new connections and communicating CPVA's value proposition,
* Solidify CPVA as the default circularity certification partner for the solar sector, building strategic partnerships both within the energy sector and in aligned sectors like resource recovery, critical minerals etc,
* Provide growth insights and identify business opportunities, reporting these to the Board with proposed actions to capture opportunities,
* Build strategic partnerships and secure grant funding to support operational costs and ensure financial sustainability,
* Protect the integrity and value of CPVA and the CPVA Certified brand,
* Develop internal management and administration processes as required,
* Manage internal and external communication channels.

This role is ideal for a commercial operator who thrives in emerging growth environments and is motivated by impact, autonomy and performance incentives. CPVA has built a solid foundation to underpin the incoming CEO's success in this role and offers an engaged board of directors providing additional support. There will be a hand‐over with the incumbent, to ensure the new CEO is set for success.

Who Will Thrive In This Role

This role will strongly appeal to someone who:

* Has experience in sustainability, energy, circular economy, resource recovery or infrastructure markets and understands how to craft and communicate compelling value propositions,
* Brings a deep industry network and the credibility to engage and influence senior decision‐makers to achieve CPVA's mission and growth plan,
* Is commercially minded and comfortable driving growth outcomes,
* Has energy, vigour and professionalism, and enjoys building momentum,
* Recognises circularity and resource recovery as a defining transformation for industry, and not just a niche issue,
* Enjoys operating in an impact and mission‐driven organisation,
* Sees the long‐term opportunity of this unique appointment as reward for hitting commercial growth targets,
* Wants to be early in a sector that is about to scale rapidly.

Experience in or exposure to certification frameworks or end‐of‐life infrastructure will be highly regarded.

Appointment + Remuneration
* Part Time, contract role - we are focused on outcomes rather than someone 'clocking on and off'.
* Retainer and strong performance incentives.

The role is structured to align impact, growth and reward, with earnings increasing as CPVA scales. The sky's the limit in terms of earning potential, aligning success for both parties. This is an opportunity to lead a national organisation at a pivotal moment for the energy transition.
