 
        
        About the Role 
We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Officer to join our team on high-profile structures and defence projects in NSW. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, project-specific safety requirements, and defence protocols. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to drive a proactive safety culture on site. 
Key Responsibilities 
- Oversee and implement workplace health and safety systems across defence and structural project sites. 
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments. 
- Develop, review, and enforce safe work method statements (SWMS) and job safety analyses (JSAs). 
- Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions. 
- Report, investigate, and manage incidents, hazards, and near misses. 
- Liaise with defence representatives, client stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with site-specific requirements. 
- Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and reporting. 
Skills & Experience 
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer on structural and/or defence construction projects. 
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and defence safety frameworks. 
- Cert IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum requirement). 
- Additional qualifications such as ICAM Investigation, First Aid, or Lead Auditor highly regarded. 
- Ability to influence, lead, and embed a safety-first culture across diverse teams. 
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
