Chief Judicial Officer for Commercial Division
The County Court of Victoria is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons for appointment as a Chief Judicial Officer of the Commercial Division.
Key Responsibilities:
* Hearing and determining interlocutory applications to ensure timely and effective resolution of commercial disputes.
* Conducting judicial resolution conferences, trial assessments, and directions hearings to promote efficient case management.
* Managing the self-represented litigants' program to facilitate access to justice for all parties involved.
* Making procedural orders, including orders by consent, to maintain order and fairness in the courtroom.
Requirements:
* A legally qualified individual with a minimum of five years of post-admission experience.
* Extensive experience in the practice of commercial law, including expertise in contract law, corporate law, and securities law.
* An in-depth understanding of court processes and procedures, including knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.
* Superior oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with judges, lawyers, and other stakeholders.
* Ability to make timely decisions according to law, while considering the interests of all parties involved.
Additional Information:
The position is based in Melbourne and offers a competitive remuneration package. While the position is full-time, appointments on a part-time or work-share basis will be considered.
