Events ACT is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Sponsorships and Partnerships Officer (ASO6) to join our Commercial team. In this role, you’ll help drive the commercial success of some of Canberra’s most iconic events, including Floriade, Enlighten Festival, the Canberra Balloon Spectacular, New Year’s Eve, Australia Day and more. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Commercial, you’ll drive commercial opportunities across Events ACT’s major events securing partners, delivering impactful activations, and ensuring compliance, quality, and value across all agreements. You’ll bring sponsors into our biggest events, create engaging experiences, analyse results, and collaborate closely with stakeholders and the broader Events ACT team to strengthen connections and contribute to a cohesive, high‑performing culture. Eligibility/Other Requirements: You will bring a balance of commercial acumen, stakeholder management capability and a passion for events. We’re looking for someone with: Experience in sourcing sponsorships and developing high‑quality proposals, pitches and partnership plans. Strong negotiation and relationship‑management skills, ideally in sponsorship or sales environments. High‑level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders. The ability to work effectively under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain a positive team‑focused approach. A proactive and innovative mindset, contributing ideas that improve business outcomes. Desirable At least three years’ experience in sponsorship, sales, partnerships, or stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of the local and national sponsorship market and the events industry. Qualifications in marketing, advertising, PR, communications, or a related field. A current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to work weekends, public holidays and evenings during peak event periods. Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Please note, this position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
