Role Description
Operating as part of a multi-crew team reporting to the Chief Remote Pilot, the Mission Assistant provides crew support during the planning and safe execution of RPAS missions in accordance with CASA regulations and Company Operating Procedures. Missions include both visual and beyond-visual line of sight (BVLOS) activities throughout Australia.
This role is based in Perth and will involve intra/interstate travel and potentially overseas deployment. The position will represent the company with all stakeholders including clients, regulators, industry bodies and supply chain representatives. As such, a mature approach and high degree of professionalism is required.
The role involves assisting the Remote Pilot in Command with:
- Pre-flight planning activities for RPAS operations.
- Pre- and post-flight RPAS maintenance checks.
- Approved minor maintenance.
- Payload preparation and operation.
- Completion of Job Safety Assessments.
- Assessment of weather, ground risk and airspace considerations for RPAS operations.
- Compliance with company policies, procedures and RPAS Operations Manual.
- Secure operation of small, medium and large RPAS in accordance with procedures.
- Aviation radio communications with other airspace users and ATC as required.
- Deployment to remote areas in support of RPAS operations.
- Transport and refuelling operations in support of medium/large RPAS operations.
- Accurate completion and submission of operational documentation.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- RPAS pilot licence (CASA RePL or equivalent).
- Aeronautical Radio Operator certificate (AROC) or equivalent.
- Driver's licence (manual).
- Understanding and working knowledge of CASA RPAS Regulations.
- 1 - 2 years aeronautical experience (preferably on RPAS commercial operations).
- Ability to pass aviation, site-specific medicals and manual handling requirements.
- Right to work in Australia.
- Current national criminal history check (Police check)
- Australian Government and Aviation security clearances (or ability to obtain)
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience with medium/large RPAS operations.
- Experience in the collection and management of payload data from crewed or uncrewed aviation platforms.
- Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) software experience (eg AvPlan, OzRunways).
- Experience with RPAS mission/flight planning software (eg; MPCM, AVCRM, NAIPS).
- Experience in remote operations, including BVLOS.
- First Aid certificate.

- Excellent written and spoken communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve commercial objectives.
- Technically minded with mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new skills quickly.
- Well organised individual with a solid attention to detail.
- Ability to work with technical specialists supporting remote operations, payload integration and maintenance.
- Self-driven and motivated, capable of achieving results with minimal supervision.
- Interested in pioneering remote operation aviation capabilities in Australia.
