Infrastructure Operations Engineer
Vault Cloud is the national leader of providing highly secure and scalable sovereign cloud capability to the Australian Government, National Intelligence Community and Critical Infrastructure sector.
As we continue to lead in technological advancements, Vault is now entering a defining phase of growth with a strategic $22.5 million investment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC).
Due to continued growth and the critical importance of our national infrastructure projects, we are expanding our operations team and seeking an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our Operations team.
You will be responsible for:
* Leading Service Configuration and Management to ensure Vault systems are consistent, secure, and aligned across all environments.
* Driving Deployment Management by enabling seamless, reliable delivery of new features in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
* Owning Infrastructure Reliability through proactive monitoring, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Upholding Security and Compliance by embedding best practices and meeting regulatory requirements across all systems.
* Fostering Collaboration Across Teams to align infrastructure capabilities with product needs and support scalable growth.
* Building Internal Capability by mentoring team members and championing modern DevOps and infrastructure practices.
* Ensuring Operational Excellence through effective incident management, change control, and alignment with business priorities.
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate with:
* The scope of this role requires an Australian Government Security Clearance; therefore, applicants must be Australian Citizens and have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
* Strong hands-on experience in Linux systems administration and OpenStack/OpenShift environments
* Deep understanding of storage solutions like Ceph and Swift
* Demonstrated capability with automation and CI/CD tools – GitLab, Ansible, Terraform
* Solid knowledge of networking (e.g., Cisco, Cumulus, Fortinet)
* Experience operating in environments where uptime and reliability are non-negotiable
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and security to align infrastructure with business needs
