Clinical Nurse Consultant - Lead Practitioner Out of Home Care
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum + 12% superannuation
Note: This position is also advertised as Allied Health Professional - Lead Practitioner Out of Home Care ); only one position will be filled on merit. This position is eligible for a Multidisciplinary Allowance.

We are seeking senior allied health professionals with experience in clinical leadership, complex case management, assessment, trauma informed therapy, and within mental health or related sectors. You would work within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment for children and young people.
Our Aim
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service in Tasmania is growing. We are seeking Lead Practitioners to provide clinical services to children and young people experiencing mental health concerns who are in out of home care. Roles are within new teams developed under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care). The Lead Practitioner will be part of the Out of Home Care Program, with a passion for person-centred, trauma-informed therapy, and high-level clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
Role highlights
- Lead and work with a diverse group of clinicians as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, providing support and consultation as required.
- Undertake clinical services through complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies; develop and implement specialised treatment programs.
- Collaborate with team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new child and youth mental health services in Tasmania.
- Leadership training is available through the Tasmanian Health Service in partnership with the University of Tasmania.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality trauma-informed mental health services to children and young people in out of home care.
- Provide supervision and guidance within a multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to service development and delivery in accordance with program aims.
You will need
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in clinical service delivery for the program area; ability to provide high-level clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement, and work under minimal supervision.
- Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based approaches to child and youth mental health services; experience as a senior health professional in relevant settings.
- Experience in a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care approach with families and communities to achieve positive outcomes.

Location
The position is based in the Northwest (Burnie or Devonport).
Details of appointment
Permanent, full-time, day worker position, up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary packaging
You’ll have access to salary packaging including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.

Essential criteria
- Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (current).
- Working with Children Registration.
Desirable criteria
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the role (held or in progress).
