Support First Nations community healing and resilience after disaster

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of First Nations communities recovering from disaster. This temporary full-time opportunity until 30 June 2027, based in Logan Central, will see you working with the Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Service Disaster Flood Team to support culturally safe healing, strengthen community resilience and promote wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people impacted by disaster.

Your New Role

In this role, you will support culturally safe recovery and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities impacted by disaster. Working within a multidisciplinary recovery team, you will help strengthen community connection, promote healing and support individuals and families to navigate health and recovery services.

* Deliver culturally appropriate health and wellbeing support within a multidisciplinary recovery team
* Support First Nations individuals and families to access and navigate health and recovery services
* Facilitate community engagement activities, education programs and workshops in disaster impacted communities
* Promote cultural healing through connection to Country, culture and community

This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.

About You

You are a passionate First Nations health professional who is committed to supporting community healing and strengthening resilience following disaster. You bring strong cultural knowledge, community connections and the ability to work collaboratively with both community members and health professionals.

* Strong understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture, community and protocols
* Experience supporting health, wellbeing or community recovery initiatives
* Ability to build trust and engage respectfully with individuals, families and communities
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* Commitment to culturally safe, community‐centred care and improving health outcomes
