Job Description
Conditions: Monday, 6 July 2026 0800-0800. You're expected to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care to our patients, covering the birthing suite, acute gynaecology consultations, and antenatal/postnatal care, ensuring the health and well‐being of women throughout their pregnancy journey.
Responsibilities
* Attend morning handover at 0800hrs on all days rostered on call.
* Conduct ward rounds of gynaecology, antenatal, and high‐risk postnatal patients.
* Adhere to NSW Health requirements, including timely consultant review of new admissions within 24 hours.
* Provide a mandatory rest day for locums presenting for more than 4 days on‐call to manage fatigue.
* On weekdays, remain on site between 0800 and 1630.
* On weekends, after completing the morning ward round and any urgent clinical work, remain on site within 30 minutes of the hospital for the entire on‐call duration.
* Manage theatre coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring birth suite activity is not deferred due to lack of theatre cover after hours.
Maitland Hospital currently performs over 2,100 births per year, with inductions of labour routinely scheduled 7 days a week. You will have access to 24/7 junior support and first‐on‐call duties to deliver exceptional patient care.
