The Opportunity
The City of Launceston is seeking a Team Leader Asset Strategy to lead the development and delivery of Council's asset management strategies, policies, and plans. This is a key role with real scope – you'll lead a multidisciplinary team of five, drive evidence‐based decision‐making, and ensure the city's infrastructure portfolio is managed sustainably for the community it serves.
Reporting to the Senior Leader Property and Asset Strategy, you will develop frameworks aligned with ISO 55000 principles, champion data integrity and GIS integration, and align asset planning with Council's long‐term financial plan, service delivery frameworks, and four‐year delivery program. You will also lead the development of the annual capital works program and ensure compliance with the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas).
Who We're Looking For
You are a strategic thinker with deep technical grounding, someone who can translate complex data into clear decisions and inspire a team to do the same. You bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in engineering, asset management, asset planning, or accounting
* Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating an asset management or infrastructure planning team
* Strong understanding and applied knowledge of ISO 55000 principles, ideally within a local government context
* Proven capability in integrated asset data, GIS, and financial systems
* Experience developing asset management plans, lifecycle models, and financial forecasts for long‐life asset portfolios
* Ideally, knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas)
* The ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment, working with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver results
