About Us
Central Tablelands Weeds Authority (CTWA) is a local control authority responsible for managing biosecurity priority weeds in the local government areas of Bathurst, Blayney, Lithgow, and Oberon.
We are a unique organization funded by these Councils and the NSW State Government, covering an extensive area of approximately 13,500 square kilometres. This diverse region encompasses productive agricultural lands, forests, and national parks.
The governing body comprises eight Members elected from the Councillors of each constituent Council.
Our Mission
To effectively manage and enforce the Biosecurity Act within our jurisdiction, while undertaking contracted weed control activities on public roads.
We aim to prevent the spread of priority weeds, ensuring the health and productivity of the region's ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
* Enforce the Biosecurity Act across landowning entities, including private landholders, Forestry Corporation, Transport NSW, and National Parks.
* Manage up to eight staff members, comprising the Biosecurity Operations Manager, Biosecurity Administration Manager, and Weeds Biosecurity Officers.
