About the role:
A Diversional Therapist at Stretton Park Aged Care plays a key role in enhancing residents' wellbeing through meaningful, person-centred leisure and lifestyle programs. The role involves assessing residents' interests, abilities, and social needs, then designing and facilitating activities that promote engagement, independence, and quality of life. This includes coordinating group and individual programs such as creative arts, music, exercise, cognitive stimulation, community outings, and social events. The Diversional Therapist works collaboratively with the care team, families, and volunteers to create an inclusive and supportive environment where each resident can experience purpose, enjoyment, and connection. Documentation, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of programs are also essential aspects of the role.

About Central Gippsland Health
Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire.

We operate four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield delivering high-quality, person-centred care in supportive and homelike environments.
CGH provides a wide range of community-based services that support people to remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and other in-home services tailored to individual needs.
Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

About Department
Stretton Park is a private, not-for-profit aged care facility with 46 beds based in Maffra. The facility also incorporates 19 Independent Living Units, governed by the Stretton Park Board of Management and managed through CGH.
Duties
Provide support and facilitation of learning opportunities to undergraduate students from all disciplines
Facilitate and assist with therapeutic groups and/or educational programs.
Participates in information gathering to assist in assessment process to develop individual care plans.
Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of therapy care plans and provide appropriate feedback to the Registered Nurses.
Work with clients, their families and carers to carry out person centred programs
Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate integrated person-centred care leading to enhancement of resident's quality of life.
Liaise, network and collaborate with other service providers.
Advocate for residents and their families including assisting residents to be independent.
Comply with guidelines and relevant accountability requirements including statistical data collection requirements.
Work with volunteers and provides support and guidance.
Undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Current drivers' license. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty
First Aid Certificate in Basic Emergency Life Support (HLTFA201A) or willingness to obtain
Certificate IV in Lifestyle and Health or similar (desirable or willing to obtain)
Previous experience in a similar role
