Assistant Store Manager - JB Foods Pty Ltd - The Good Grocer Group (IGA)

Location: Karratha, WA 6714

Salary range of $68, $85,000

JB Foods Pty Ltd trading as The Good Grocer Group, is a leading WA family-owned business within the independent supermarket industry and are currently seeking a dynamic Assistant Store Manager to join our Good Grocer leadership team in Karratha on a full-time basis.

About the Role:

As Assistant Store Manager you will support the Store Manager in managing the store retail team. You will oversee the store in the Store Manager's absence. Demonstrating strong leadership skills, operational acumen and a commitment to delivering an exceptional shopping experience are key to succeeding in the role.

You will lead/supervise and inspire your team to consistently deliver outstanding fresh food offerings and exceptional customer service. We are looking for more than just a retailer; we want passionate individuals with a genuine love for food who can embrace change and support the Store Manager in creating a market-leading offer for the local community.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist the Store Manager in recruiting, training and managing a high-performing team. Motivate and inspire the team to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding customer service.
* Oversee day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
* Interact with customers to understand their needs, helping with an 'of course' attitude and resolving customer inquiries, concerns and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
* Oversee day-to-day store operations, including inventory management, merchandising and compliance with company policies and procedures. Ensuring continuity by implementing training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team.
* Collaborate with the Store Manager and merchandising team to implement effective product displays and promotions. Contribute to achieving sales goals through upselling, cross-selling and suggestive selling techniques.
* Assist in monitoring and managing budgetary goals, including sales targets and expense control. Contributing to analysing financial reports and making data-driven decisions to improve store performance.
* Drive sales and profitability through effective inventory management, promotional activities, and understanding local market trends.
* Enforcing compliance with safety, security, and food safety standards, while maintaining workplace health and safety requirements.
* Recruiting, training, evaluating, and supporting staff development, while also managing performance, promotions, and grievance resolution where required.
* To work closely with the local community to meet and exceed their food expectations with an 'of course' attitude.
* Ensuring customers receive prompt and quality service, responding effectively to inquiries and resolving complaints.

Skills & Experience:

* Proven experience as a Retail Supervisor is preferred.
* Strong ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.

* Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for creating a positive shopping environment.

* Strong merchandising skills with the ability to create visually appealing displays.
* Ability to manage and lead the team and a comprehensive understanding of food safety standards and the ability to ensure compliance.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Proficiency in relevant IT systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with retail management software (e.g. Smart Retail, ABCIS).
