About the Role The Human Resources (HR) Superintendent will lead and oversee all HR functions for Fitzroy Australia Resources the soon to be commissioned (March 2025), Ironbark No1 underground coal mine operation in Queensland. As a new mine the HR Superintendent will play a vital role in shaping the future of the workforce by supporting the development of a positive culture and engaged workforce. This role is responsible for implementing HR strategy, talent acquisition, employee relations, workforce planning, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, standards and procedures. The HR Superintendent will play a key role as part of a wider HR team developing Group HR Strategy, Policy and Standards and HRIS while ensuring site alignment with the overall strategic goals of the business. Key Responsibilities: HR Strategy and Leadership: Execute the HR strategy in alignment with the Group and Operational objectives. Be part of a Group HR team to develop and implement HR policy, standard and procedures for the business. Provide strategic HR advice and support to senior site leadership to enhance employee performance and organizational effectiveness. Promote and sustain a positive organizational culture with a strong emphasis on employee engagement initiatives including wellbeing. Talent Management & Workforce Planning: Manage workforce planning, including recruitment, retention, and workforce development for the underground mining team. Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process to ensure a skilled and efficient workforce. Work closely with department managers to understand labour needs and ensure the availability of skilled workers. Employee Relations: Provide leadership and support for employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary processes. Advise on the interpretation of industrial relations matters, including awards, agreements, and relevant legislation. Lead and participate in EA negotiations with union representatives and ensure compliance with relevant industrial agreements. Ensure the maintenance of a harmonious working environment by resolving employee grievances and fostering good employee relations. Training and Development: Work closely with leaders within the operation to support their ability to manage HR issues effectively. Develop and promote career development programs for employees, focusing on the growth of skill sets relevant to the underground mining environment. Lead employee performance management and development processes to enhance both individual and team performance. Manage the performance and salary review cycle for the operation and ensure internal consistency. Payroll and Benefits Administration: Liaise with Group payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of wages, allowances, and benefits. Provide guidance on compensation and benefits to ensure fairness and consistency. Ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of employment agreements and relevant legislation. HR Reporting & Analytics: Analyse HR metrics to provide insights into workforce trends and inform decision-making. Prepare site HR monthly report and ad hoc reports on HR performance, including workforce statistics, turnover rates, and other key HR indicators to inform management decisions making. Recommend improvements to HR processes based on data analysis and feedback. Qualifications and Experience: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in HR or Industrial Relations will be advantageous. Experience: Minimum 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in a mining or heavy industry environment. Demonstrated experience in industrial relations, recruitment, workforce management, and employee relations in an operational setting. Strong understanding of Australian mining industry regulations, workplace safety standards, and labour laws, particularly in Queensland. Skills: Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization. Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities Advanced user of HR HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of the underground coal mining operations and relevant safety procedures will be advantageous.
